Mani Ratnam Joins Hands With Netflix For Nine Short Films, Titled Navarasa; To Help Tamil Film Industry Overcome Setback Due To COVID-19
Filmmakers Mani Ratnam and Jayendra Panchapakesan collaboration for a Netflix project has got the fans of these ace filmmakers all excited. The duo has joined hands to support the Tamil film industry to cope up with setbacks they suffered from the outbreak of COVID-19.  A Tamil anthology titled Navarasa will have nine films representing nine emotions such as anger, compassion, courage, disgust, fear, laughter, love, peace and wonder. The duo had a brainstorming session followed by arriving at this concept of Navrasa.

OTT, Netflix shared the news on its official Twitter handle, they tweeted, “An anthology that will hit every emotional chord. Brought to you by Mani Ratnam and Jayendra. #Navarasa, coming soon.” In one of their Tweets, the OTT platform gave out the list of actors, directors, cinematographers, writers and producers associated with the project. The list of actors includes Aishwarya Rajesh, Revathy, Siddharth, Suriya, Nithya Menen, Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Gautam Karthik and more, who have given a nod to the projects, without charging any remuneration.

As reported in PTI, the producer duo’s statement read, “This time the brainstorming was for the cause of our own industry, to soothe and try and alleviate to some extent the agony of our people who had no work for months. The idea of making short films and raising money through them for this cause was born on one such brainstorming evening. We were thrilled when the idea resonated well instantly with leading directors, actors and technicians of the industry that we approached.”

“The idea of Navarasa was a spark when we discussed it and the industry has come together to make it glow, give it soul and make it count for its people.
